on may 6 1993, the bodies of three young boys were found beaten and mutilated, ending a search for them that had begin the night before when they failed to return home in the evening. with little evidence to go on the police were stumped for leads.

enter a boy who wears black, listens to metalica, studies the wiccan religion and writes dark poetry. at 18 damien echols was sentenced to death by lethal injection for the satanic ritualistic murders of the three boys. horrifying yes, but what is more horrifying is that he had an alibi for the evening, there was no physical evidence against him, no trappings of satanic activity at the crime scene and his arrest for the murders was based solely on a confession that was fabricated and led by the police task force. they needed a scape goat - they found damien and his two friends.
